According to the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), they have strategically scheduled the gentle landing of Chandrayaan-3 to coincide with periods of sunlight. This choice stems from the installation of solar panels on the lander itself. S Somanath, the head of ISRO, elaborated that these additional solar panels have been incorporated to ensure a continuous power supply for the lander, regardless of its landing orientation.
The significance of sunlight in this endeavor cannot be overstated. Hence, the decision to time the landing with daylight hours. This timing is crucial to allow the solar panels to recharge effectively, thereby enabling the rover to carry out its explorations without interruption.
